Frequently Asked Questions

Does professional waxing hurt, and how can I minimize discomfort?
Most clients find professional waxing far more comfortable than they expect. Our trained aestheticians at our Coquitlam, BC clinic use high-quality waxes and proper techniques that remove hair quickly and cleanly to minimize discomfort. Any sensation is brief. To make your appointment even more comfortable, we recommend exfoliating gently a day or two before, avoiding caffeine right beforehand, and scheduling around your menstrual cycle when skin tends to be less sensitive.
How long does waxing last compared to shaving?
Waxing removes hair from the root, so results typically last three to six weeks — far longer than the few days you get from shaving. Because the hair is removed at the root, regrowth is also finer and softer over time. With regular waxing every four to six weeks at our Coquitlam clinic, many clients notice their hair grows back sparser and more slowly.
How do I prevent ingrown hairs after waxing?
To prevent ingrown hairs, we recommend gentle regular exfoliation starting a few days after your wax, keeping the skin moisturized, and avoiding tight clothing on freshly waxed areas. Our aestheticians use meticulous technique to reduce irritation, and we are happy to recommend the right aftercare products for your skin. Regular waxing on a consistent schedule also significantly reduces ingrown hairs over time.
How long does my hair need to be for a wax?
For best results, hair should be about a quarter-inch long — roughly two to three weeks of growth after shaving. This length allows the wax to grip the hair properly for a clean removal. If your hair is longer, our Coquitlam aestheticians can trim it before your treatment. If it is too short, we may recommend waiting a few days so you get the smoothest, longest-lasting result.
